Air-conditioned cabins in trucks will be made mandatory in India, according to India's Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. Speaking at an event to honour Indian drivers, Gadkari said there is a need to improve the working conditions of drivers, who will be required to spend 14 to 16 hours in their cabins. He also said that air-conditioned trucks were needed to improve logistics and reduce costs in order to boost India's exports.
