Global shipping giant CMA CGM is introducing a peak season surcharge (PSS) on India-US containerised cargo. The USD 800 per-TEU, USD 1,000 per-FEU, and USD 1,200 for hi-cube loads will be rolled out on 1 July, and apply to tariff or service contract rates on all cargoes shipped from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Middle East Gulf, Red Sea, and Egypt ports of load to various US destinations. It is the first surcharge of its kind on the route, other carriers have used gradual rate increases (GRIs) to prop up rates.
